The cups are hexagonal and contain 6 images each. The saucers are marked with 7 images each. This gives a total of 13 images be cup and saucer, or 36 images for the entire set. This is a goodly number for any beginning tea leaf reader to memorize, and there is a well-illustrated booklet that explains the symbols and their meanings.

This unusual set of symbol cups and saucers consists of three cups and three saucers made of white bone china marked with 22k gold trim, each designated by a number on the bottom. A single cup and saucer is only part of the set, and because the cups and the saucers are both backstamped with their numbers, a mismatched set is not worth purchasing, except to give away to a novice collector when you finally acquire a proper set.

These cups and saucers were premiums sold with Red Rose brand tea. They were manufactured in England by the Taylor and Kent pottery and came with their own instruction booklet.
