Andrews McMeel Universal was founded in 1970 as Universal Press Syndicate by Jim and Kathleen Andrews and John Susan McMeel. Originally a comic strip syndicate, the company grew to include distribution and publication of magazines, books, calendars, and printed novelties. In 2004, the company released and distributed The Psychic Cup by Kim Allen. The cup reflected the publishing orientation of Andrews McMeel in that it was accompanied by a detailed book of instructions.
