Saunderstown

Willow Cottage Tea Room, Saunderstown, Rhode Island, exterior, undivided back era. Although from the style of the postcard we can tell that the photo was taken around 1905, it was not mailed until 1922. This is fairly common with view cards -- the establishment buys many cards and keeps using them for decades. The message reads: "Dear Lilian, Here we stopped in the rain for a cup of tea and everything, sandwiches and cakes, are delicious. We miss you already! But Excelsior [perhaps a nickname for a car or bicycle] keeps onward no matter the mud or weather! We did not eat on the lawn! Love, Ellie."
Willow Cottage Tea Room, Saunderstown, Rhode Island, exterior, undivided back era. The card is addressed to "Mrs. Lewis J. Powers. Belvedere Cottage, Watch Hill, Rhode Island."
