Why Bibliographies?

Tea leaf reading is one of the "cozy" forms of divination, and goes well with palmistry; psychic readers who offer one will often offer the other; this 1895 book, "Scientific and Intuitional Palmistry" by J. J. Spark, pairs well with Celestial Seasonings' Mandarin Orange Spice Tea in an airbrushed Syracuse restaurant ware demitasse cup. For more about Palmistry, see our sister-site YourWateandFate.com and for more vintage restaurant ware, see our annex at PorcelainMadness.com

As a bibliophile, the descendent of several generations of bibliophiles, and the daughter of a bibliophile, bibliographer, research librarian, book scout, book shop owner, and writer, i have always valued bibliographies and vintage book store catalogues as quick ways to get into a subject and learn who worked in the field before i did. Annotated bibliographies are a special joy and a delight, because they not only provide data whereby you can locate older texts, they also contain a spark of the soul of the annotator, who provides a unique perspective on the topic as well. Creating bibliographies by topic from my own collection of vintage books about divination is therefor a natural task for me.

For more on my own history as a bibliographer, see the page on Instructions in Tasseomancy.

At our web site, The Yronwode Institution for the Preservation and Popularization of Indigenous Ethnomagicology, my husband nagasiva and i maintain an assortment of bibliographies on occultism that you might enjoy. Check out the link for a bit of fun.

But here we are in the Tea Room, so let us deal with the topic at hand.
