In 1904, the British designer Neville Ross created the Nelros Cup of Fortune, which was produced for Ross by Aynsley China in England. The rights to produce the cup were eventually transferred to the Aynsley company, and the cup was manuactured for decaed on a succession of pottery shapes. Eventually it was discontinued.

In 2018, Aynsley produced a new version of this cup and saucer for distribution in Japan. The 2018 Aynsley Cup of Fortune Commemorative Edition cup comes in vibrant colors. It has an open cup shape with gilded edges. This series of solid colours was manufactured for distribution in Japan, apparently as a way to keep the Cup of Fortunetrademark active and up to date. These cups were produced in a limited run
