Baltimore

Ye Olde McCormick Tea House, Baltimore, MD, chrome, postcard front, circa 1959. This is one of several chrome-era postcards photographed at the headquarters of McCormick spice and tea company, which also marketed Bee Brand spices, Banquet Tea, and McCormick-Schilling herbs and spices. The tea room was open to the public, and the guests were served by young white women, called "attractive hostesses," dressed in a Hollywood approximation of "Elizabethan gowns." Here we see two company executives being served by the "lady in blue and pink," in front of the fireplace, on the mantel of which is carved the company slogan, "Make the best -- Someone will buy it."
Ye Olde McCormick Tea House, Baltimore, MD, chrome, postcard front, circa 1959. This card is marked "59-A" where the stamp would be placed, thus dating the year and its position in the series. The two executives are named here as John N. Curlett, President of McCormick & Co., at left, and Charles P. McCormick, Chairman of the Board, at right. There is also an invitation that when in San Francisco, one should visit the Colonial Inn at the California McCormick-Schilling Plant.
